Our wing nuts are made entirely of stainless steel and provided with the specified metric internal thread (ISO standard thread DIN 13-1).
Two small wings are attached to the slightly conical shaped nut. They are actually lugs, but their appearance gave the wing nut its name.
Wing nuts according to DIN 315 are available as German and American form. The German form has very rounded and relatively wide lugs, the American shaped nut has slightly more angular and narrower wings. The variant offered here are wing nuts of the American form.
The nuts can be tightened quite easily without tools with thumb and forefinger on the wings. Therefore, they are rather used for lighter connections, which are to be loosened and re-fixed more frequently with quite little effort.
Wing nuts are typically found on playground equipment such as scooters and go-karts, on garden furniture and garden tools, or in mechanical engineering, model making and carpentry.
