A turnbuckle is a double nut with a right-hand and a left-hand thread that holds together two tie rods with corresponding external threads. By turning the double nut in one direction or the other, it tensions the rods or loosens the connection.
The tie rods are designed as eyelet or hook screws. Accordingly, there are three different forms: Type A with eyelet-eyelet, Type B with hook-and-hook and Type C with eye-hook.
The turnbuckles are made of V4A stainless steel, which is resistant to water, humidity and weak acids. Therefore, they can also be used outdoors. On machines and in architecture turnbuckles are often used to correct dimensional differences or to adjust a clearance. But turnbuckles are also used in horticulture, sailing, and wood and furniture construction.
With the help of a turnbuckle or turnbuckle, wires, chains, ropes or bars can be tightened and secured.
